Nearly 300 million students around the world have been absent from school as many countries have stepped up measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Since the outbreak in Vu Han City (China) late last year, the Covid-19 epidemic has now spread to more than 80 countries and territories around the world. It has infected more than 96,800 people and killed more than 3,300.
Yesterday, the number of deaths in mainland China was more than 3,000 and more than 80,400 were infected with the new strain of Corona virus (SARS-CoV-2).
After many days of decline, the situation of new infections yesterday increased again in the center of Wuhan with 131 cases. The number of infections outside of mainland China also continues to rise rapidly.
In particular, South Korea, Italy and Iran became Covid-19 hot spots, according to AFP.

Close the school
As the disease spread, countries and territories applied strict measures. Examples include: isolation, restrictions on travel, banning crowded events, suspension of factory operations or closing of schools indefinitely.

WHO warns that cash can spread Covid-19
According to The Telegraph, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that SARS-CoV-2 could survive on paper money for days, increasing the risk of infection. It is still unknown how long SARS-CoV-2 can last outside of the human body. Some studies suggest that this virus can survive on hard surfaces for up to 9 days. The Bank of England also admits cash can carry the virus. In February, China sterilized and destroyed a number of cash suspected of having SARS-CoV-2.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) says 13 countries have closed all schools. This affects 290.5 million students.
"If the Covid-19 epidemic is prolonged, it will disrupt the world education, this will threaten the right to education," UNESCO Director Audrey Azoulay said.

With the number of infections rising to more than 6,000 and 41 dead, South Korea postponed the new semester until March 23.
The country has also stepped up testing of normal people in Daegu City, due to the alarming level of infection in the community.
About 98 countries and territories restricted entry or forced isolation from people from South Korea, according to Yonhap.

In Japan, all schools were closed until early April. The Japanese government plans to enforce a 14-day quarantine for people from China and South Korea.
Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Japan has also been announced to be postponed due to the Covid-19 epidemic, according to Reuters.
The Italian government orders all schools and universities to be closed until March 15. This is due to the widespread Covid-19 epidemic, with the number of deaths increasing to 107 and more than 3,000 cases. About 50,000 people are isolated in 11 towns in northern Italy.
Under the new ban, sporting events are allowed, but fans are not allowed to attend. The Italian government also recommends that people avoid kissing on their cheeks or social handshakes.

In Iran, it is home to 107 deaths and nearly 3,500 cases of SARS-CoV-2. The government closed all schools until the end of March, postponing major sporting and cultural events.

Economic threat
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) yesterday announced a $ 50 billion package to support low-income countries to cope with diseases.
The IMF says the Covid-19 epidemic is a serious threat. It will slow global economic growth to below 2.9% last year. IMF General Director Kristalina Georgieva called on the world to join hands in putting down the Covid-19 epidemic.
In the United States, Congress has approved a budget package of more than $ 8 billion to respond to the Covid-19 epidemic. The number of infections in the US increased to more than 150 and there were 11 deaths. This situation forced the states of Washington, California and Hawaii to declare a state of emergency.
In the same situation, the Grand Princess yacht is being held off California. The reason was that the passengers and crew had symptoms of Covid-19.
