The leaked proposals from the European Union (EU) suggest that EU smartphone manufacturers may be forced to create products with removable batteries in the future.
According to MacRumors, this means that any smartphone brand that wants to sell a handheld device in the EU, including Apple, will have to ensure that every device on the market has a removable battery.
Of course, this proposal still needs a long time to get approved. Especially when it hasn't been made public, only Dutch source Het Financieele Dagblad said it will be officially announced next month.

Apple is known for producing iPhones only with non-removable batteries. So leaking EU proposals could cause the company to change the design of its products.
However, with removable batteries, the iPhone may lose features like waterproof and slim design.
Removable batteries are not the only design that Apple could be affected by changes taking place in the EU. Previously, the company was expected to face the standard of common charging standards on all smartphones sold in Europe, along with tablets and other portable devices.
This common charging standard is expected to be USB-C, while Apple has used the Lightning port on its smartphones since the iPhone 5 launched in 2012.
