The Eiffel Tower has been closed to visitors due to a strike by tower staff to protest the bill on retirement reform of the French Government.
"Closed" signs are posted outside the Eiffel Tower, so visitors can only access the pedestrian area below the tower. Even tickets for pre-booked tours or purchased from popular websites are denied by staff.

The strike of the Eiffel Tower union was part of a series of strikes that took place across France on December 17. As unions trying to bring new momentum to the general strike that started nearly two weeks ago crippled France's public transport network.
Unions say the new pension policy will cause millions of workers in both the public and private sectors to work longer or face a reduced pension. Many employees argue that the reform deprives them of special benefits to date.
