A taxi driver was on his knees pleading to avoid being fined $ 140 for smoking in a private car. It is prohibited by Singapore law.
According to the Straits Times, the incident happened on October 3 at Mount Elizabeth Road, near Singapore's central business district, Orchard. The National Environment Agency said the ComfortDelGro taxi driver was caught smoking in the car while the car was lowering the glass.
"Law enforcement officials informed the driver of the violation and presented a $ 140 fine for smoking on public transport," the National Environment Agency of Singapore said.

In a photo shared on social media, the driver knelt down and begged two law enforcement officers.
"When the man knelt on the road and begged to be forgiven to avoid being fined, our staff asked him not to, and they even had to soothe him to return to the car." Singapore authorities said.
Singapore authorities have affirmed that law enforcement officers acted civilly and professionally "during conversations" with the driver in the incident.
The Straits Times later contacted a driver of ComfortDelGro. This person said a fine of 140 USD equivalent to 2 days of income by driving a taxi.
The Singapore smoking ban prohibits tobacco use in certain locations. People are caught smoking in prohibited places. Including public transport may be fined from 140 USD to 700 USD. The ban expanded to private rental vehicles, including Grab, in 2017.
