A bridge at Nanfangao port, Suao town, Taiwan collapsed on October 1. It crushed 3 fishing boats and many people were stranded.

According to Taiwanese news agency Central News, at least 9 people fell into the water. Authorities have saved 7 of them. There are 6 cases of serious injury. Meanwhile, Channel News Asia quoted from the Coast Guard said at least 14 people were injured.

Taiwanese fire forces estimated that six people were missing or could be trapped inside the ships.

Reuters reported that divers were currently searching for people trapped in fishing vessels.

"The bridge collapsed around 9:30 am on October 1 (local time). There was still a tanker on the bridge and the car caught fire. We were afraid some fishermen were still trapped inside. fishing vessels ". Mr. Shih I-chun, the secretary of Mayor Suao, said.

The functional forces have set up emergency centers for victims. The Taiwanese military said the navy was involved in emergency operations.

The cause of the incident is currently unknown.
