Spider-Mobile was created at an early age, when toy manufacturers asked Stan Lee to write a car into comics (to increase revenue for toy cars). Stan Lee then persuaded writer Gerry Conway to create one for Spidey.
In THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (1963) # 126, a car company named Corona Motors hired Carter & Lombardo to approach Spidey. He refused and thought it was an extremely stupid idea.
